Guwahati: In a significant push to promote cross-regional craft collaboration and sustainable textiles, the North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation (NEHHDC) on Friday unveiled Padma Doree, a unique initiative blending the Eri (Ahimsa) silk traditions of Northeast India with the heritage Chanderi weaving of Madhya Pradesh.
The initiative, launched by MDoNER Secretary Sanjay Jaju, was marked by a fashion showcase that brought together the ethical appeal of Eri silk with the fine textures and motifs of Chanderi textiles, highlighting a fusion of sustainability and craftsmanship.
