India, March 15 -- A joint team of central and state forces arrested eight cadres of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) and recovered Rs 39 lakh in extorted money from them, officials reported on Sunday.
The money was allegedly extorted from contract nurses at a state-run hospital.
Following an investigation into a First Information Report (FIR) registered at the Porompat Police Station in Imphal East district, concerning the extortion of money from contract staff nurses at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Manipur Police on March 13, 2026, arrested four individuals involved in the crime.
