Imphal: The Manipur government is considering filling over 8,000 vacant posts in the Home Department ahead of the February 2027 Assembly elections amid continuing efforts to strengthen security in the state.

Officials said around 8,110 vacancies had been identified across different departments as of April 2026. The proposed recruitment includes 2,900 posts in Manipur Police, 3,000 in Manipur Rifles and 1,000 in the Village Defence Force (VDF).

The vacancies also include 450 posts in Police Wireless, 200 in CID-Special Branch, 180 in Jail and 230 in Fire Services.
