Imphal, July 31 -- The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) opened its first state-of-the-art Aadhaar Seva Kendra (ASK) at Wahengbam Leikai, near Hotel Bheigo, in Manipur's Imphal West district on Thursday, marking another step towards strengthening resident-centric Aadhaar services in the city.

The ASK was inaugurated by N Ashok Kumar, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Home Department, Government of Manipur, in the presence of Ngachan Zimik, Deputy Director General (DDG), UIDAI Regional Office, Guwahati.

Addressing the gathering, N Ashok Kumar said that while Aadhaar enrolment in Manipur has reached around 87-88 per cent, enrolment among children in the 0-5 years age group remains comparatively low.
