Manipur: UNC reiterates demand to defer Census, delimitation until implementation of NRC
Imphal, Aug. 19 -- The United Naga Council (UNC) has reiterated its demand that the Census and delimitation of Assembly constituencies in Manipur be deferred until the National Register of Citizens (NRC) is implemented, using 1951 as the base year.
The UNC said its position was outlined in a joint memorandum submitted by the UNC and the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) to the Prime Minister through the Governor of Manipur on May 3, 2024.
