Imphal, Oct. 28 -- Dr. Thangkhankhup Guite, 33, son of Zomi Reunification Organisation (ZRO) president Thanglianpau Guite, on Wednesday announced his intention to contest the 2027 Manipur Assembly elections from the 56-Thanlon constituency in Churachandpur district.

The current term of the Manipur Legislative Assembly is scheduled to end on March 13, 2027, with the next election expected to be held before its expiry.

Guite made the announcement at his father's residence in Dorcas Veng, New Lamka, where he sought public support, guidance and prayers, saying his priorities would include peace and development in the constituency.
