Imphal, Oct. 5 -- Members of Hockey Manipur and local supporters gathered at Imphal International Airport on Monday to welcome Pukhrambam Sushila Chanu and Bichu Devi Kharibam after India's historic women's hockey gold at the Asian Games 2026.

The victory marked India's first women's hockey gold at the continental event in 44 years.

Sushila credited the achievement to the collective support of her family, coaches and fans across the country. She also called for improved sports infrastructure in Manipur, saying facilities remain limited outside Khuman Lampak Main Stadium and the SAI Sports Complex.
