Imphal, Sept. 29 -- The Supreme Court on Monday disposed of a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by the Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights after the Manipur government informed it that the blockade on National Highway 2 (NH-2) had been cleared and the movement of essential goods had resumed.

The petition, filed under Article 32 of the Constitution, had sought the removal of prolonged economic blockades in Manipur's Kangpokpi district, which the petitioners said were disrupting the supply of essential commodities, including food, fuel and medicines, to Kuki-Zo-inhabited hill areas.

A three-judge Bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V. Mohana heard the matter.
