Imphal, Sept. 30 -- The Manipur Police have arrested a student leader in Imphal East for allegedly working as an operative of the proscribed National Revolutionary Front Manipur (NRFM), according to police authorities.

Waikhom Sena, 24, president of the Imphal East unit of the Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF), was apprehended by personnel of the Special Commando Unit stationed at Khabeisoi on September 28.

Police identified Sena, a resident of Luwangsangbam Mamang Leikai, as an alleged active operative of the banned outfit. Investigators alleged that he used his position to prepare and circulate propaganda materials and press releases on behalf of the insurgent group through social media platforms and local newspapers.
