India, March 11 -- At least six protesters were injured when security personnel fired tear gas and lobbed mock bombs at the historic Khwairamband Bazar in Imphal city.

The incident occurred as protesters attempted to march towards the Manipur Legislative Assembly, where the third day of its 12th session was underway on Wednesday.

The massive protest was jointly organized by the Campaign for Just and Fair Delimitation (JFD) and Bishnupur Apunba Pupi Lup (a women's organization), demanding the deferment of the 2026 census and subsequent delimitation until the National Register of Citizens (NRC) is implemented, along with ensuring free movement on the National Highways in Manipur.
