India, March 30 -- In a series of operations, the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and civil police averted potential tragedies by detecting Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along the Indo-Myanmar border and arresting an extortionist and drug smugglers on Sunday, officials reported on Monday.
Based on intelligence inputs indicating the presence of anti-social elements, the joint team, along with a sniffer dog, conducted an operation at a vulnerable location near Border Pillar 73 under Moreh police station in Tengnoupal district.
The joint forces recovered six 9 mm pistols, six 9 mm magazines, one single-barrel rifle, 15 IEDs, and two tactical radio sets. The recovered IEDs were destroyed in situ, the reports stated.
