Imphal: Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Monday stated that, due to the prevailing law and order situation in the state, the summer vacation for schools has been reduced from three weeks to one week to make up for lost academic time.

The Government of Manipur declared the shortened summer break effective immediately. The Chief Minister made the announcement while attending the inaugural function of a three-day workshop on "Reforms in School Education of Manipur: An Approach to Implementation, Challenges and Opportunities of NEP-2020."

The event was organised by Vidya Bharati Shiksha Vikash Samiti, Manipur, at the City Convention Centre, Imphal.
