India, Feb. 27 -- In a landmark move aimed at strengthening financial inclusion in remote Manipur, the Chairman of State Bank of India (SBI), Challa Sreenivasulu Setty, on Friday virtually inaugurated the SBI Parbung Branch from the bank's Local Head Office in Guwahati.
Pherzawl, which shares borders with Assam, Mizoram, and Myanmar, is one of the least developed districts in Manipur. The establishment of this branch is being hailed as a major milestone, marking the first banking facility within Pherzawl district.
