Manipur: Rs 1,556 crore released for relief, housing and rehabilitation of displaced people
Imphal, Sept. 10 -- The Centre and Manipur governments have sanctioned a combined Rs 1,556.53 crore for relief and rehabilitation measures for people displaced by the violence that erupted in the state on May 3, 2023.
Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh recently said the conflict displaced around 60,000 people. Of them, approximately 36,000 have either returned to their homes or been resettled, while around 24,000 continue to stay in relief camps.
The government is also providing monthly financial assistance to nearly 59,000 displaced people, including those who have returned home but continue to face serious livelihood difficulties.
