Manipur: Protests erupt over Assam Rifles outpost in Ukhrul; tear gas shells fired

Imphal: Security forces fired tear gas shells on Sunday to disperse protesters opposing the establishment of a temporary Assam Rifles outpost at New Heaven in Manipur's Ukhrul district.
The confrontation occurred around noon when protesters, most of them Tangkhul Naga women, blocked a road as Assam Rifles vehicles attempted to pass through the area, which falls under the jurisdiction of Shokvao village. Standoff over the outpost began on Saturday.
