Manipur: Primary school destroyed after armed miscreants clash with security forces in Kangpokpi
Imphal, Sept. 7 -- A primary school was destroyed in a fire after security forces exchanged gunfire with armed miscreants in Manipur's Kangpokpi district early Monday, police said.
The incident took place around 5 am in Lhunjang village, where armed miscreants allegedly approached with the intention of launching an attack. Security personnel stationed in the village, including personnel from the Manipur Rifles and India Reserve Battalion (IRB), retaliated, triggering a gunfight that lasted around 30 minutes.
No casualties or injuries were reported in the exchange of fire.
