Imphal, April 20 -- Officials reported on Monday that central security forces and state police arrested an insurgent and destroyed three bunkers after unidentified gunmen fired on civilians at TM Kasom in Manipur's Ukhrul district, resulting in two deaths.

In the operation, security forces arrested an active cadre of the proscribed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak Progressive (PREPAK-PRO), identified as Sorokhaibam Pathou Meitei (25) of Chairen Mangjing, Moirang, in Bishnupur district.

He was apprehended in the Kakching Lamkhai Laipham Loknung area under the jurisdiction of Kakching Police Station.
