Manipur: Over 24,475 undocumented Myanmar nationals detected, Home Minister tells Assembly
Imphal, Sept. 7 -- The Manipur government has identified 24,475 foreign nationals who entered the state without valid documents, Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam informed the state Assembly on Monday.
According to the minister, all those detected were Myanmar nationals. Of the total, 14,992 have been pushed back, while 9,483 remain housed in temporary relief camps in the border districts of Kamjong, Chandel and Tengnoupal.
Konthoujam provided the figures during Question Hour on September 7 in response to supplementary questions from Congress MLA Th Lokeshwor.
