Manipur: Nemcha Kipgen travel rumour triggers NH-2 blockade; protesters mistakenly attack Losii Dikho's convoy
Imphal, Aug. 18 -- Tension resurfaced along National Highway-2 in Manipur on Monday after a rumour about Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen's travel triggered a blockade at Kanglatongbi and led to protesters mistakenly targeting the convoy of Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho.
The NH-2 connects Imphal with Dimapur through Kohima. Protesters blocked the highway early in the morning by placing boulders and trees on the road, reportedly intending to prevent Nemcha Kipgen from travelling to Imphal Airport.
Kipgen belongs to the Kuki community, while Losii Dikho is a Naga leader.
