Manipur: Naga Women's Union renews call to review excessive security deployment
Imphal, Aug. 2 -- The Naga Women's Union (NWU) has renewed its appeal for a review and reduction of excessive security deployments in Naga regions, stating that heavy militarisation in Manipur has affected civilians rather than improving security.
The Union reminded all security agencies of their professional responsibilities, stressing the need to exercise operational restraint, protect civilian lives and uphold constitutional laws without prejudice or bias.
The renewed appeal followed the July 29 killing of 29-year-old Village Guard Pouh Lanbimei Riamei in Noney district. The NWU condemned the alleged joint attack by security forces and a militant faction and called for accountability in the case.
