Imphal, July 24 -- Manipur Police arrested an active extortionist cadre of the proscribed Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition during a series of anti-insurgency operations conducted across two districts on Friday.

The accused, identified as Mayanglambam Tomba Singh alias Lakpa (39), a resident of Churachandpur Bijang Khunou currently staying at the Phubala Relief Camp, was apprehended at the Tera Urak Checkpoint under Bishnupur Police Station in Bishnupur district.

Police recovered one 9mm pistol with a magazine and 11 live rounds of ammunition of varying calibres from his possession.
