Imphal, Aug. 19 -- The Kuki Chiefs' Association (KCA) of Manipur's Tengnoupal district has opposed the proposed construction of the headquarters of the 11th Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) at Saivom village, saying the project should not proceed until peace and normalcy return to the state.

The KCA said the construction tender was issued without informing or consulting local residents and civil society organisations. It has demanded that the government defer the project until there is complete peace in the region.
