Imphal, July 4 -- In a major crackdown on insurgent activities in Manipur, joint teams of central security forces and the Manipur Police dismantled two militant hideouts during coordinated operations conducted over the past 36 hours. The operations led to the arrest of a key militant and the recovery of a large cache of sophisticated firearms, explosives, ammunition and combat equipment.

The operation began in Thoubal district, where security personnel arrested an active cadre of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party-People's War Group (KCP-PWG).
