Imphal, Sept. 6 -- The Campaign for Just and Fair Delimitation (JFD) has demanded that 1951 be inserted as the base year in the resolution passed by the Manipur Legislative Assembly on September 2 regarding the National Register of Citizens (NRC).

The demand comes after the Ministry of Home Affairs officially deferred the Census 2027 house-listing operations for Manipur following a high-level meeting in New Delhi on August 31.

Registrar General of India Mritunjay Kumar Narayan issued a notification amending the January 2026 directive that had excluded Manipur from the immediate census exercise until further notice.
