Imphal, Oct. 21 -- Former Manipur Chief Minister and Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president Okram Ibobi Singh questioned the BJP-led government's right to remain in office following the latest civilian casualties.

Singh led an INDIA bloc delegation that met Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh at Babupara on Tuesday after three civilians were killed and several others injured at Khongban Sunurok.

He said protecting civilian lives was the state government's primary responsibility and called for an end to the continued violence among local communities.

The opposition delegation criticised the government's handling of the law and order situation and asked why an all-party meeting had not been convened.
