India, March 24 -- Fresh violence was reported from Manipur's Ukhrul-Kamjong foothill belt on Tuesday, with an exchange of gunfire between Naga and Kuki volunteers leaving at least three people injured, according to local reports.

The firing was reported around 5.50 a.m. near Sharkaphung and Mongkot Chepu villages under the Litan police station area. Two Tangkhul Naga volunteers - Rinyui Ramror (41) and Raichan Lungleng (24), both residents of Sharkaphung village sustained bullet injuries to their legs and thighs, respectively, when suspected Kuki militants allegedly opened fire while they were taking shelter in a residence.
