Imphal, July 13 -- Central security forces, working in coordination with the Manipur Police, arrested five suspected members of different underground outfits and recovered arms, ammunition, incriminating documents, and two vehicles during a series of operations across the valley districts over the past 36 hours, officials said on Monday.

In one operation, the joint team apprehended an alleged active cadre of the banned United People's Party of Kangleipak (UPPK), Salam Bijanda Singh, also known as Deepak and Major (37). A native of Arong Nongmaikhong Mayai Leikai in Kakching district and currently residing at Kakwa Liwa Lambi, Maibam Leikai in Imphal West, he was arrested near Karkinos Hospital on Porompat Ayangpalli Road.
