Imphal, Sept. 27 -- Security forces arrested five active militants, including cadres of the National Revolutionary Front of Manipur (NRFM) and the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), during separate operations across Manipur on Saturday.

According to official reports, a Special Commando Unit first arrested 27-year-old NRFM operative Laishram Suresh alias L. Tomba Singh from Koirengei Mamang Leikai in Imphal East.

Following his interrogation, security personnel recovered Rs 30,500 in alleged extortion money, an iPhone, five NRFM demand letters and a Royal Enfield motorcycle allegedly purchased with proceeds from extortion.
