Manipur: Dengue cases cross 750 in Churachandpur as two die
Imphal, Aug. 25 -- Dengue cases have crossed the 750-mark in Manipur's Churachandpur district, with two deaths reported this year, prompting health authorities to step up preventive measures.
According to officials, the district has recorded 752 dengue infections so far this year, more than double the 332 cases reported during the corresponding period last year.
Lily Lhingboiniang died at the Intensive Care Unit of Churachandpur District Hospital on Monday after being diagnosed with dengue and typhoid. She was the second dengue-related death reported in the district in less than three days.
The first fatality was a 13-year-old student from Valveng in New Lamka, who died on August 22 after developing a high fever.
