Imphal, Aug. 6 -- A 32-year-old Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable from Uttar Pradesh, who was undergoing pre-induction training, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside a camp at Motbung in Manipur's Kangpokpi district on August 5.

The deceased, Vineet Singh from Uttar Pradesh, allegedly used his service weapon at around 8 am, prompting an ongoing police investigation.

The incident occurred during the morning hours inside the tactical camp under the jurisdiction of the Sapermeina Police Station. Constable Vineet Singh allegedly shot himself under the chin using his assigned INSAS service rifle.
