Imphal, Aug. 26 -- Private schools and colleges in Churachandpur have been advised to suspend regular classes from August 26 to 30 amid a rise in cases of dengue, typhoid and hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) in the district.

The advisory was issued by the Churachandpur District Private Schools and Colleges Association (CDPSCA) following a joint meeting with the district Chief Medical Officer (CMO), with the aim of reducing the spread of infections among students and staff.

School managements have been asked to assess local conditions and prioritise student safety while deciding whether to remain closed during the five-day period. Academic schedules may also be taken into consideration.
