Imphal, Aug. 20 -- Tensions escalated in Kangpokpi district on Thursday as fresh clashes broke out between security forces and protesters in the Namdilong area of Kanglatombi. At least 10 protesters and one security personnel were injured in the confrontation.

The violence came amid ongoing protests demanding justice and accountability for the abduction and killing of six Liangmai Naga civilians earlier this year.

According to reports, security forces had initially cleared the area where protesters had gathered. However, a large group later attempted to return to the site to resume their agitation, leading to a standoff.
