Manipur: Assam Rifles patrol ambushed near Indo-Myanmar border, personnel injured
Imphal, Aug. 25 -- An Assam Rifles patrol team came under attack by unidentified armed individuals near the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur's Tengnoupal district early Sunday, leaving security personnel injured, police sources said on Tuesday.
The incident took place around 4 am as the patrol was moving through the rugged area between Yangoupokpi and Charingphei villages.
According to officials, the attackers triggered an improvised explosive device (IED) targeting the moving patrol. The blast was followed by gunfire, prompting the security personnel to take tactical positions and retaliate.
The attackers reportedly used the dense vegetation and difficult terrain to escape from the area following the exchange of fire.
