Imphal, July 31 -- Heavy rainfall on Thursday afternoon triggered flash flooding and severe waterlogging across Manipur's Churachandpur district, leaving thousands stranded and disrupting traffic, business and daily life.

The downpour started at around 4 pm and continued for more than an hour, causing local streams to overflow and inundating roads, residential areas and commercial establishments.

Low-lying areas and neighbourhoods along rivulets were among the worst affected as floodwaters submerged major thoroughfares and brought vehicular movement to a standstill.
