Drug routes shift to Mizoram after 2023 Manipur strife, says CM

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh stated on Friday that following the 2023 ethnic crisis, drug trafficking routes have significantly shifted.
He noted that the illicit trade has largely been diverted through Mizoram, though smaller quantities are still routed from Moreh to Churachandpur via roads constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
From Churachandpur, he added, the primary distribution point is Kwakta in Bishnupur district. The Chief Minister made these remarks while speaking at the observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2026, held at the Main Auditorium of the City Convention Centre in Imphal.
