New Delhi, Aug. 21 -- US President Donald Trump says he will meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un this year, in what would be their first encounter of Trump's second term.

Trump told reporters that Pyongyang has 57 "very powerful" nuclear weapons, marking the first time he has cited a specific figure for the recalcitrant regime's nuclear arsenal.

However, North Korea denied any direct communication between leader Kim Jong Un and President Trump, rejecting Trump's claim of recent contact. Pyongyang also dismissed Washington's decision to scale down joint military drills with South Korea, insisting US policy toward the North remains antagonistic.
