New Delhi, May 21 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded the prestigious Agricola Medal 2026 by the Food and Agriculture Organization, the organisation's highest honour, at a ceremony held at FAO Headquarters in Rome.

FAO Director-General QU Dongyu presented the award in recognition of Prime Minister Modi's contribution to agricultural development, food security, poverty reduction and farmer welfare.

The FAO praised India's large-scale food and agriculture initiatives under Modi's leadership, including financial inclusion programmes, food support for 800 million people, direct income support to farmers, promotion of natural farming and the global push for millets during the International Year of Millets.
