Near 48degC in North, Central India Amid Heatwave
New Delhi, May 21 -- A severe heatwave continues to grip large parts of North and Central India, with temperatures soaring close to 47-48 degrees Celsius in several regions of Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), dry northwesterly winds combined with clear skies have intensified heatwave conditions across the region, with little immediate relief in sight.
Health experts have warned that prolonged exposure to extreme heat can lead to dehydration, heat exhaustion and heatstroke, particularly among children, elderly citizens and outdoor workers.
