New Delhi, March 23 -- In a social media post on Sunday, Iran's Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, said that critical infrastructure and energy facilities in West Asia could be "irreversibly destroyed" should Iranian power plants be targeted.
This comes as tensions around the Strait of Hormuz escalated sharply after Iran warned that it would strike key U.S.-linked infrastructure across West Asia, including energy, I.T., and desalination assets in the region, if Donald Trump follows through on his threat to destroy Iranian power plants.
Earlier, President Trump issued a 48-hour ultimatum, demanding Tehran re-open the vital corridor, which carries roughly a fifth of global oil-and-gas supplies.
