Iran Offers to Reopen Strait of Hormuz Within Two Days
New Delhi, Nov. 3 -- Iran on Monday said it was ready to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within two days if the United States accepted its conditions, including a new transit route through the strategic waterway and a reduction in its troop presence in the region.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said the proposal reflected Tehran's willingness to restore security in the Strait and resume negotiations.
Iran has called on Washington to accept a new transit route through the Strait, agreed upon by Iran and Oman, and reduce its military presence in the region.
Baqaei warned that any military attack against Iran would be met with an immediate and comprehensive response.
