Iran frees American woman held since 2024: Trump
New Delhi, July 16 -- U.S. President Donald Trump said that Iran has allowed an American who was "wrongfully detained" under the Biden administration in 2024 to leave the country.
President Trump shared on social media that Iran has released an American woman detained since December 2024 and praised Tehran's gesture of goodwill.
An Iranian-American dual national who worked for a U.S. technology company and also ran a charity for children in Iran was detained in December 2024.
She was later released from prison, but the Iranian authorities confiscated her passports and didn't allow her to leave the country. She was later charged with espionage.
