New Delhi, May 12 -- The swearing-in ceremony of the new Assam Government was held today in Guwahati. Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma took oath as the Chief Minister of Assam for a second consecutive term. With today's swearing-in, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma became the first non-Congress leader in Assam's history to assume the office of Chief Minister for a second term. The swearing-in ceremony also marks the formation of the third successive NDA government in the State.

Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya administered the oath of office to Sarma at a grand ceremony held at the Veterinary Ground in the Khanapara area in Guwahati.
