New Delhi, Sept. 22 -- G7 nations called on Yemen's Houthis on Monday to halt strikes on Saudi Arabia, offering a show of solidarity with Riyadh as the Tehran-backed fighters have added a new threat to the West Asia war.

The ministers of Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States, in a statement, condemned in the strongest terms the unacceptable continued strikes carried out by the Houthis in Yemen and against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The leaders also called on Iran to end its arming and support of Houthis, alleging Tehran is in violation of past UN Security Council resolutions.
