Four Indian-Origin Players at FIFA World Cup
New Delhi, June 4 -- The FIFA World Cup, beginning on 11th June, is set to feature FOUR players of Indian-origin.
They are Sarpreet Singh for New Zealand, Samuel Moutoussamy of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nishan Velupillay for Australia, and Tahsin Mohammed for Qatar.
Born in Auckland to Punjabi parents, Sarpreet has earned 24 international caps for New Zealand and scored three times.
Moutoussamy was born in France to a Congolese mother and Indo-Guadeloupean father of Tamil origin. The 29-year-old mid-fielder has earned 57 international caps after making his debut in 2019.
25-year-old winger Velupillay is one of 17 players in Australia's 26-member squad, who will make their FIFA World Cup debut.
