Doctors weigh in on the new dengue vaccine, Qdenga
New Delhi, July 24 -- The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) approved the dengue vaccine named Qdenga earlier this week. It is a live-attenuated vaccine produced by Takeda GmbH, Germany, and will be available in India from the first half of 2027.
This news is significant due to the high prevalence of dengue, especially in a country like India. The World Health Organisation found that five countries-India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and Thailand-are among the 30 most highly endemic countries in the world when it comes to dengue.
