Raipur, Sept. 22 -- Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday said women's respect, safety and economic empowerment were among the state government's highest priorities, asserting that they were equal partners in building a developed Chhattisgarh.
Addressing a Teej Milan ceremony at Revenue Minister Tank Ram Verma's residence, Sai said the Mahtari Vandan Yojana was strengthening women's financial independence, with over 68 lakh women receiving Rs 1,000 monthly and more than Rs 20,000 crore transferred through 31 instalments.
He said 13.85 lakh women had become Lakhpati Didis through self-help groups and livelihood activities. Sai also said a Film City costing around Rs 650 crore was being developed to promote local talent.
