BALURGHAT, July 26 -- Four educators from South Dinajpur, including a headmaster, have been inducted into the West Bengal government's Syllabus-cum-Curriculum Committee constituted to restructure the state's school curriculum, syllabus and assessment system in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2022 and 2023.

According to a notification issued by the School Education department on July 24, the committee comprises university professors, subject experts, headmasters and teachers from across the state.

It has been entrusted with recommending reforms in curriculum, textbooks, assessment methods, teacher training and modern pedagogical practices from the primary to higher secondary levels.

The four members from South Dinajpur are Indranil Saha, Physics teacher at Banshihari High School; Jagatpati Pal, Headmaster of Betna Ramkrishnapur High School; Subhendu Pal, Life Science teacher at Nadipar N.C. High School and Nabanita Roy Barman of Harirampur C.M.D. Girls' High School.

In addition, Hariswami Das, a former student of Patiram High School in South Dinajpur and the current Headmaster of Shobhanagar High School in Malda, has been nominated to the committee from Malda district. A recipient of the President's Award, Das is widely respected for his long teaching career, administrative expertise and significant contribution to the field of education.

Reacting to the development, Indranil Saha said: "I have seen the notification, though I have not yet been officially informed. I will certainly discharge the responsibility entrusted to me."

As per the government notification, the committee will submit a preliminary report within the next few months, followed by a final report.

Its recommendations are expected to shape significant reforms in West Bengal's school curriculum, syllabus and

evaluation system.

Educationists have welcomed the inclusion of four teachers from Dakshin Dinajpur, describing it as a matter of pride for the district and a recognition of its contribution to the state's education sector for shaping the future of school education in West Bengal.
