Chandigarh, Oct. 29 -- Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday attacked the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), questioning Rahul Gandhi's 'Mohabbat Ki Dukaan' slogan over the Congress' record and challenging Arvind Kejriwal to substantiate his claims about Delhi's education system.
Speaking to reporters at Haryana Niwas, Saini said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was working to fulfil the aspirations of 140 crore Indians and empower the poor through schemes such as Ujjwala and financial assistance of Rs 6,000 to farmers. He questioned why the Congress opposed welfare initiatives and said its remarks about the Prime Minister's family were deeply unfortunate.
Targeting Rahul Gandhi's slogan, Saini asked whether the 1984 riots and incidents in which homes, shops and Dalit settlements were burnt during Congress rule in Haryana would also feature in his 'Mohabbat Ki Dukaan'.
He also accused the Congress of failing to respond effectively when terrorists crossed over from Pakistan. Taking a dig at Kejriwal, Saini challenged him to release a list of students who became doctors and engineers through the school system developed during his tenure as Delhi chief minister.
On Punjab, Saini said the law and order situation had deteriorated and people wanted change.
He accused AAP of failing to fulfil its promises to eradicate drugs and questioned the Congress over alleged "illegal mining" during its tenure.
