Chandigarh, Sept. 14 -- Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday criticised Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over his alleged reference to the turban as "nakli" (fake), calling the remark highly unfortunate and demanding an apology.
Speaking to the media at his residence, Sant Kabir Kutir, after inducting several leaders into the BJP, Saini said the turban represented respect for the Gurus and was a matter of faith, belief and reverence.
"For us, the turban represents respect for our Gurus. It is a matter of faith, belief and reverence for us. The turban is a tradition bestowed upon us by our Gurus," he said.
Saini said his government was being run by following the teachings of the Gurus and urged Mann to visit the place where the Gurus adorned the dastar and apologise.
"If Bhagwant Mann is calling this turban 'nakli' (fake), then he should go to the place where our Gurus adorned this dastar and apologise," Saini said.
He also demanded that Mann apologise to the people of Punjab, saying the remark had insulted them as well as the Gurus.
