Srinagar, Sept. 7 -- Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday called for responsible use of artificial intelligence, saying the technology must remain anchored in ethics, core values and strict human oversight.
Addressing the IIT (BHU) Global Alumni Meet in Chicago, Illinois, Sinha said AI would drive economic growth by combining human potential with machine intelligence. He stressed that technology must be guided by humanity to ensure it serves the collective well-being of people.
Paying tributes to Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, Sinha highlighted his contributions to engineering education and the industrialisation of India. He said Malaviya's ideals continued to inspire generations to advance technology, strengthen the economy and serve society.
Sinha also spoke about India's growing global role, describing the country as stronger at home, confident abroad and prepared to contribute to shaping humanity's future.
"India is rapidly advancing toward technological leadership while building on unprecedented social welfare initiatives, paving the way for a great resurgence," he said.
Highlighting Jammu and Kashmir's transformation, Sinha attributed the changes to the abrogation of Article 370 and said the region had witnessed significant development over the past six years.
"This is not just progress but a renaissance. Jammu Kashmir has moved from shadows of fear to the light of opportunity, from isolation to integration, and from despair to destiny," he said, adding that the transformation had opened new avenues for development, investment and opportunity.
Recalling Swami Vivekananda's historic address in Chicago on September 11, 1893, Sinha praised the contribution of IIT (BHU) alumni and the Indian diaspora to global society.
He urged the alumni to contribute to India's economic and civilisational resurgence and outlined a four-point roadmap. It included investing in next-generation institutions through mentorship and capital, building strategic partnerships between American and Indian institutions, sharing an accurate narrative of India's transformation and reconnecting with their roots by bringing home their experience and knowledge.
